Department Profile:
Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation – Altamonte offers state-of-the-art equipment and rehabilitation services in a beautiful new lakefront facility. The center provides individualized, evidence based and progressive treatment using a manual therapy and sports medicine approach. Our team of highly trained physical therapists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists, and Certified Hand Therapist educate patients, equipping them with the knowledge and ability to prevent further musculoskeletal injuries. The goal of Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is to transition patients from injury or sickness to rehabilitation and wellness. We are located next to the Spine Center at Altamonte and work closely with spine surgeon, Dr. Chetan Patel and his clinical and research teams.

Work Hours/Shifts:
7:00am- 4:00pm Varies / Monday - Friday

Job Summary:
Non-licensed worker who is specifically trained to perform duties necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the department. As allowed by State Practice Act and under the supervision of a therapist/therapist assistant/ATC/RN, assists with providing direct and indirect services to a specific age group in the acute care, inpatient and/or outpatient rehabilitation settings. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
  • Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)


Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification per specialty
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (Preferred)


Job Responsibilities:

  • Works without close supervision, consulting with supervisors/managers when appropriate, seeking approval and advice on situations outside personal authority and expertise as observed by the Team Manager/RN.
  • Maintains professional and functional work environment by keeping equipment and work areas clean, appropriately stocked and orderly. Assists in maintaining all department equipment in safe and proper working order by checking it prior to use. Completes reports and work orders and sequesters all confirmed or suspected malfunctioning equipment. Ensures that electrical equipment is maintained (PM checks) on a yearly or on as needed basis, as evident by maintaining timely, accurate and legible records.)
  • Anticipates needs and prepares to assist with patient care. Ensures patient and staff safety by recognizing situations which place patient or staff at risk and responds appropriately.
  • Assists staff with patient care, treatment and other tasks by correctly and promptly carrying out assigned activities/duties.

  • Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in workload by altering working hours to assist in other areas/centers/programs as approved and observed by supervisor/manager.
  • Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
  • Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payors as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounds results.
