PRIMARY CUSTOMERS, PARTNERS, AND TEAM:

At Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU), our primary customers are students, faculty, and staff. Our partners are physicians, allied health clinicians and other employees of Florida Hospital.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Masters prepared Professor, the faculty member would be expected to develop, design and deliver instruction in Physician Assistant courses. Participates in student advising, mentoring and engages in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship and research. Reviews and assists with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures. Identifies and recommends to department chair appropriate community agency linkages for student learning experiences. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to work in a face-to-face and online teaching environment.

• Knowledge of computer based academic delivery systems.

• Ability to work with an ethnically diverse student body.

• Strong communication, time management and organizational skills

• Honesty, integrity and commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

• Ability to work as a member of a team of highly motivated and experienced Individuals.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Five years of clinical experience

• Master's Degree from a Physician Assistant Program or related field

• Three years of teaching experience in a PA Program

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Experience teaching at the graduate level in a PA program

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Certification, (NCCPA.net)

• Must be eligible for Florida state licensure if they are a PA or Physician.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

• NA

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates behaviors at Adventist University of Health Sciences in harmony with the “Four Words” Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship>

• Teaches in both the didactic and clinical phases of the Masters of Science Physician Assistant Program - MSPAS curriculum.

• Participates in Scholarship and service activities as indicated in university and department policies and continues to develop as a faculty member of the college through advanced studies, research and writing.

• Helps to develop, implement, and evaluate MSPAS entry-level curriculum as needed.

• Participates in the development and implementation of new instructional experiences.

• Develops individualized learning objectives and serves as a small-group facilitator

• Recruit qualified applicants.

• Develops competencies required for the successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (“PANCE”) examination.

• Grades examinations and assignments and reviews evaluations with students.

• Reviews and assists with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures.

• Serves as a faculty advisor to PA Students as determined by the program chair and serves as a mentor to Level I PA Faculty and provides supervision and counseling to students.
